Research Backgrounds

Function:

TFIIF is a general transcription initiation factor that binds to RNA polymerase II and helps to recruit it to the initiation complex in collaboration with TFIIB. It promotes transcription elongation. This subunit shows ATP-dependent DNA-helicase activity.

Subcellular Location:

Nucleus.

Extracellular region or secreted Cytosol Plasma membrane Cytoskeleton Lysosome Endosome Peroxisome ER Golgi apparatus Nucleus Mitochondrion Manual annotation Automatic computational assertionSubcellular location
Subunit Structure:

Heterodimer of an alpha and a beta subunit. Interacts with HTATSF1 and GPBP1 (By similarity). Interacts with URI1. Interacts with GTF2B (via N-terminus); this interaction is inhibited in presence of GTF2F1.

Family&Domains:

Belongs to the TFIIF beta subunit family.
