Research Backgrounds
Transcription activator that recognizes two different DNA motifs: the CCAAT homology common to many promoters and the enhanced core homology common to many enhancers. Important transcription factor regulating the expression of genes involved in immune and inflammatory responses. Transcriptional activator that enhances IL6 transcription alone and as heterodimer with CEBPB.
Nucleus.
Binds DNA as a homodimer and as a heterodimer. Can form stable heterodimers with CEBPB. Can form stable heterodimers with CEBPA and CEBPE. Interacts with SPI1/PU.1. Interacts with PRDM16.
Belongs to the bZIP family. C/EBP subfamily.
Transcriptional activator. C/EBP are DNA-binding proteins that recognize two different motifs: the CCAAT homology common to many promoters and the enhanced core homology common to many enhancers. Required for the promyelocyte-myelocyte transition in myeloid differentiation.
Phosphorylated.
Nucleus.
Strongest expression occurs in promyelocyte and late-myeloblast-like cell lines.
Binds DNA as a homodimer and as a heterodimer. Can form stable heterodimers with CEBPA, CEBPB and CEBPD (By similarity). Interacts with GATA1 AND SPI1. Interacts with SMARCD2.
Belongs to the bZIP family. C/EBP subfamily.
