Research Backgrounds

Function:

Tyrosine-protein kinase receptor which may be involved in the early formation of the chondrocytes. It seems to be required for cartilage and growth plate development (By similarity). Phosphorylates YWHAB, leading to induction of osteogenesis and bone formation. In contrast, has also been shown to have very little tyrosine kinase activity in vitro. May act as a receptor for wnt ligand WNT5A which may result in the inhibition of WNT3A-mediated signaling.

Subcellular Location:

Cell membrane>Single-pass type I membrane protein.

Extracellular region or secreted Cytosol Plasma membrane Cytoskeleton Lysosome Endosome Peroxisome ER Golgi apparatus Nucleus Mitochondrion Manual annotation Automatic computational assertionSubcellular location
Subunit Structure:

Homodimer; promotes osteogenesis. Binds YWHAB. Interacts with WTIP (By similarity).

Family&Domains:

Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. Tyr protein kinase family. ROR subfamily.

Fig 8 Immunohistochemical staining of groups (40×). This figure demonstrates the expression of JAK2, STAT3, WNT5A, and ROR2 in load-bearing areas of subchondral bone among groups. The positive expression of JAK2, STAT3, WNT5A, and ROR2 was defined as brown-yellow stain. Data are presented as the mean SD. Scale bars = 50 μm. Group A, sham group; Group B, the collagenase + saline injection group; Group C, the collagenase + PTH (1-34) treatment group. PTH, parathyroid hormone.
